Who doesn't want more sales? To wake up to emails or text messages saying that money was deposited into your account over night. Or a barrage of emails or messages with orders from enthusiastic customers?
One of the challenges many of my clients face is creating content consistently that sells. You see, this is something that is not taught in school and when most people start a business, they focus on building a pretty website, have a splashy call card and then maybe creating a flier that they hope will lure people to their business.
The last 10 days were a whirlwind of activity on my social media. From election coverage to music videos, I am surprised how much commonality the two have. Trinidad and Tobago was swept away by the general elections held on August 10, but this is not about the results but about how they transformed social media as their main platform to educate, connect, inspire and motivate the masses.
You are not trying to sell to everybody. I know you have this being said before because it so true. Many entrepreneurs are of the misguided belief that they need to cast as wide a net as possible to get more the most clients.
You either want it or you don't. In business, it is that simple. Yes, it may sound harsh but it is the truth. Do you want a business? Financial freedom? Time to spend with family? To create a difference and help others? To turn your passion into something sustainable? Well, commit to doing it!
We have been in this business of helping other businesses exceed, grow and breakthrough new markets for quite a number of years and there are a few key things that we have learnt along the way. Some of them include:
1. Always keep learning
Reading and educating yourself is key to your success. You never know too much. There is always a new way, a better way, a more unconventional way. How can you help your clients if you yourself are not educated about the products and services that are available on the market.
Even I suffer from fear from time to time. Fear of people judging and questioning what I want to share. Fear of not knowing enough and fear of not being able to help the people I really want to help. It’s natural but it does not have to be debilitating.
Like everybody else there are times when I fall into a funk. When I don’t feel motivated to get up and do what I know needs to get done. We have all been through these spells and trust me when I tell you it is very very natural.
So many of us hide behind our computers under the pretense that if we post often on social media and engage in enough discussions with people in groups on Facebook, LinkedIn or Google + then our businesses will grow and we will dominate the market.
The easiest way to get new clients is to give away a lot of free stuff. There I said it. I know you must be cursing me at the back of your head and saying....is she mad? There is no way I can give away a lot of free stuff in my business. I will go broke!!!
