Let’s Make A Digital Product Together

Let’s make a digital product together

So, let’s talk about digital products. I wanted to talk about digital products because it’s one of those things that I get asked a lot about during my coaching sessions. At some point in time during coaching, my clients usually ask me about what type of digital products they can start and the benefits of digital products. Let me tell you a little about my history with digital products. I did my first digital product in 2016 as an E-book. And it didn’t sell! I sold a few copies but it didn’t sell off the shelf and that was all my fault because I didn’t understand that selling an E-book required the same amount of marketing as selling anything else.

Do I need a digital product?

MY DIGITAL PRODUCT JOURNEY

My E-Book sold a few copies, but it did not sell many, many, many copies because I did not do the marketing required to get it out to my audience. And that was a huge learning curve. Since then, I’ve created multiple digital products, and the thing I want to tell you is that you have different types of digital products. Depending on the type of business you have, you can have a digital product. I know that the knee-jerk reaction is to go and create an E-book. But you need a sense of your audience-

  1. what they need,
  2. what do they want,
  3. how do they want that solution delivered to them

for you to decide what type of digital product to put out. Because your audience may not love E-books. You have to figure out what works for them. Because there are so many different types of digital products you can have more than one digital product running at the same time. And that’s one of the things I love about digital products.

Putting together a digital product is where most of the work goes into. Doing the research, putting together the material, whether it’s an

E-book – Past tips and tools

Videos- pull videos that you have done before

A membership site- sharing a specific topic (s)

Creating templates

You need to research to determine what digital product works best for your business and not assume that it is an E-book. Do not assume anything because your audiences are different.

And you need to niche down so that you will know exactly what to create for your audience. Knowing their challenges and the solutions they need, and how to deliver that solution to them in a way that is easy for them to consume, easy for them to understand, and sometimes easy for them to implement if it’s one of those types of digital products.

The first thing you do in creating a digital product

SERVING MANY IN ONE

I love digital products because it’s a great way for you to serve many people. It’s a great way for you to serve many people instead of exchanging your time for money, which is not the most sustainable way to grow your business. And a digital product allows you to do that because you can sell and teach to hundreds or 1000s of people at one time through your digital product. And that is why I love digital products.

RECURRING INCOME

Another reason that I love digital products is that they can be sold over and over and over and over. You can create an E-book now and six months later, that E-book is still bringing in passive income. That’s another income stream into your business. You can take that digital product and attach it as a bundle to something else that you’re selling to your audience. Your digital product has legs. It can be sold over and over and over, and it can serve many people. It’s a great way for you to take back control of your time and your energy. If you are at a stage in your business where you’re starting to feel overwhelmed and you don’t have control of your time. Put the knowledge that you do have into a space that you can use, and then sell that to your audience.

I think that every business needs to start to think about implementing digital products as part of their slew of offerings, or solutions that they give the audience.

MARKETING YOUR DIGITAL PRODUCT

You want to create a business that has multiple streams of income as well. You can do and promote multiple digital products at a time. The one thing I want you to remember though, in creating a digital product, like everything else in your business is not about building it and they will come. Besides the research that you need to do to create a digital product, you also have to market your digital product. Your digital product needs a full-on marketing plan.

Just like if you’re doing a live event you have to do a marketing plan telling people about the speakers, telling people about the venue, telling people about the benefits and what they’re going to get from this event. If you’re having a live event, you want to think about your digital products just like that, because people won’t buy them just because you created them or placed them on your website. No, you have to also promote the digital product. Whether you want to run ads, do videos, send emails to your audience, talk about it in your blogs, you need to spend time marketing your digital product, just like you will market any solution that you are putting out there.

If you have not decided on a digital product, step back and start to think about what can you offer your audience. What knowledge do you have, that you can put together to give to your audience that will help them solve a challenge that they are currently having?

From 2 to 40 digital products

In 2019, when I decided I wanted to do these digital products, I needed to decide what information that I can share with my audience. I realized, that I had done so many training videos for my audience. So much free training that I’ve offered my audience in the past. We collected it all. And we created digital products based on the training that we had. We grouped up similar topics together and created bundles. And those are my digital products now.

They are a mix of video training, as well as a mix of my E-books. You do not have to reinvent the wheel. You have been putting information out there, like tips and, getting tons of engagement and likes and people sharing. Take all that all those posts that you did, and put it together as an E-book and, then offer it at a particular price for your audience.

You can also do a webinar series or video training.

If you are offering photos for people like stock photography, that is also a digital product.

Website templates is also a digital product.

If you’re offering a membership site where your audience receives very specific content weekly or monthly.

You can create multiple types of digital products. Don’t try to do it all at once. Do your market research, ask your audience what they need and, test it out in your audience.

MY ADVICE

Don’t spend weeks creating your digital products. Spend more time doing research and getting your audience excited about the prospect of the digital product. Gather information about what they need, and create a waiting list of people who are ready to buy the digital product, and then finish the rest.
