5 Ways To Find Your Ideal Client

5 ways to find your ideal client

Your business needs an active and engaged audience for it to grow and for you to make consistent money. But it is not always easy finding this audience. And many people start a business, create a page on social media platforms, start a website, send an invite to their whole friends’ list, and still make no money. Why? Because those people were not their ideal clients!

You want to position your business in such a way that the people who absolutely need and want what you offer are following you. And create a raving fan base. To attract people who will refer you over and over again. Who will leave glowing testimonials. You want people who will buy from you every week, every month, and every year.

These are your ideal people and they are out there just waiting for you!

Let’s identify 5 ways to find these ideal clients

1. Get clear on what the solution you are offering and create a buyer persona

You cannot decide who your ideal clients are if you are not clear on what your solution is. This clarity will help you better fine-tune who you want to serve and who needs you. The first step is clearly stating who you want to help and HOW you want to help them. Then start to create a buyer persona.

A buyer persona is a list of characteristics that your ideal clients have in common. You can have more than 1 buyer persona but not too many. I share an outline of the questions you should ask to create a buyer persona in a previous post – Everything you need to know about your ideal client

2. Pay attention to past and present client trends

This is the best indication of who you are about to serve. According to Katie Zieber, ‘Chances are you’ve already got 1 or 2 clients that love the services you offer. These advocates are the people you want to model your customer avatar after because, with little to no effort, they’ve already fallen in love with your company. These are your ideal clients.

Remember; the foundation of any great relationship (business or otherwise) starts with getting to know someone.

Pay attention to the similarities and differences of the people presently buying from you or even enquiring about your business. These traits give you a wealth of information about your buyer persona

3. Check your analytics and insights

This is something that a lot of people ignore but in fact, it provides a ton load of information that can guide you in serving the right people. Your social media insights not just tell you if the people interacting with your page are male or female but also their age, where they live, and their other interests as well. Knowing this information will help you craft even more dynamic content to keep attracting your ideal clients

Your website or google analytics is another great source of information to create your buyer persona. Dive deep into the information being shared and craft out your ideal client. Give them a name and even an image so you can visualize them.

4. Do some social listening

What we in the Caribbean like to refer to as maccoing! This simply means paying attention to what is being said around you. About your business and in your niche. What are people complaining about or celebrating?

Look at your competitors with the intention of ‘listening’ to what their audience is saying under their posts and videos. More than likely you have very similar if not the same ideal clients. The more you get to know about them, the better for you to discover and serve them

5. Ask on your personal page

Your social media pages are a gold mine of information. What you are NOT going to do is invite everybody on your friends list to your business pages. Instead, you can ask a question on your personal pages that is directly linked to what your business does or provides or call out the type of persons you want to work with eg. Are Any entrepreneurs up work late tonight? Or How often do you buy scented candles for your home? Or What is more important to you…having a good camera on your phone or having plenty of memory?  Guide the people who respond to your business page because you have clearly identified them as people who have an interest in what you are offering

NOW THAT YOU HAVE FOUND THEM, WHAT DO YOU DO?

This is the magic question! So, you have a clear idea of who they are, now you need to ATTRACT them by sharing valuable content that inspires, motivates, and educates. I spoke about this in a previous post about Creating Content that Sells.

You need to go where they are and be a consistent presence in their face. Not in an aggressive way but in a helpful way so that they build that know, like, and trust!

Now that you have these 5 ways to find your ideal client, go out there and make it happen. But wait! I have something extra special for you too. Grab your FREE ebook on finding your ideal clients by clicking the button below.
